about me
I gave up (regularly) drinking darker spirits within the last year. Whisk(e)y makes me sick, and dark rum is something I find just plain unappealing. Vodka was always something I always classified as “a means to an end,” but I am quickly learning that I may have been misjudging it all this time. Maybe you have, too…
about “drain grain”
I’ve been enjoying my journey into vodka, but I’ve tried so many in the last few years that I’m starting to lose track of which ones I really like and which ones I don’t. “drain grain” will be where I keep track of my ever-growing list; it will also be where I rank all of the vodka I consume.
I will be grading vodkas on four things: coolness, cost, flavor, and burn.
coolness is simply how cool I think the vodka is. The bottle, the brand, anything really. I rank this 1 out of 10, with 10 being the absolute coolest.
cost is all about quality for what you paid, in my opinion. If I feel it was well-worth the cost, a steal even, it’s a 10. My budget may not be your budget, though, so this is super subjective (just like all of these grading criteria are).
flavor is self-explanatory. If I adore the taste it’s a 10, though I doubt there will be many of those (because it’s vodka lol).
burn is also an easy one. Does it burn like hell? It’s a 1. Does it not burn whatsoever and feel like spring water going down? It’s a 10!
